Elize M. Brown, J.D.
Ms. Brown currently serves as the Director of Community Collaboration at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, she was a program officer with The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where she specialized in community health and vulnerable populations. Her work has focused on reducing health disparities and implementing strategies for engaging multi-ethnic and low-income community residents in public health screening, surveillance, data collection and data analysis. Ms. Brown is a member of the implementation team of the Kaiser Permanente Research Program on Genes Environment and Health (RPGEH) and is leading its community engagement and education core. She recently recruited and currently staffs a diverse 21-member community advisory panel, which provides input and guidance to the RPGEH on issues of privacy, consent, communiity relations, and the social implications of genetic research for residents and communities. She is especially interested in building community and organizational capacity for reducing racial, ethnic, social and economic disparities in health. Ms. Brown received her J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles and plans to receive her DrPH in health policy and management from the University of California, Berkeley in May, 2007.
