The Clinic is an outpatient clinical research unit and an accredited procedural sedation site – overseen by the California Department of Health Services, The Joint Commission, Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center’s Department of Quality, and the Department of Accreditation, Regulation and Licensing.

Features:

  • 10,000 square feet on two floors.
  • 12 interview rooms, three examination rooms, participant changing rooms, bathrooms and showers.
  • Designated rooms for bone densitometry expanded monitoring and medical procedures room, secured area for participant charts and study drugs as well as an area to perform EKGs.
  • Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometer (DXA) – A Hologic Discovery Bone Densitometer  for studies of osteoporosis in women. This model can acquire scans and perform analysis on AP Lumbar Spine, Left/Right Hip, Left/Right Forearm, Whole Body and AP/Lateral Imaging, and Vertebral Morphometry.
  • Three laboratories equipped with refrigerated centrifuges, a –70C countertop freezer and three small refrigerators for interim storage of specimens.
  • The main laboratory is equipped with a non-ventilated still air hood, providing enhanced product protection in addition to a fumed hood to ensure occupational and environmental health and safety standards and regulations with chemical usage.
  • Negative Pressure processing room for high disinfection.
  • Installed Eyewash Stations.
  • A designated “Freezer Room” containing -70C freezers, –20C freezers and one refrigerator for short and long-term storage of biological specimens.
  • Nearly 50 certified staff members implement clinical study protocols. Designated CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) “point of care” testing site.
