Lesbian,Gay and Transgender Health

According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, health issues that face lesbian, gay and transgender populations include HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, depression, and suicide. The issues surrounding personal, family, and social acceptance of sexual orientation can place a significant burden on mental health and personal safety. Our researchers look at health disparities and health care for this group.

Smoking among Gays, Lesbians, and Bisexuals of Color

This study seeks to understand smoking behaviors among lesbians, bisexual women, heterosexual women, gay men, bisexual men and heterosexual men and to develop culturally appropriate smoking prevention and cessation programs for the people in the lesbian, gay and bisexual communities who are at highest risk.
