The Population-Based Effectiveness in Asthma and Lung Diseases (PEAL) Network
This project will create a new infrastructure to accelerate comparative effectiveness research in asthma and other lung diseases. We will form the Population-Based Effectiveness in Asthma and Lung Diseases (PEAL) Network by aligning and linking computerized data from five health care systems with diverse structural and demographic characteristics.

This study analyzes the cumulative risk of combined physical environmental and social environmental factors that affect asthma outcomes, giving particular emphasis to relationships that might be amenable to intervention/secondary-tertiary prevention strategies designed to improve outcomes.

Asthma and the Risk of Anaphylaxis
This study aims to define the incidence of anaphylaxis among adults and adolescents with asthma; define whether anaphylaxis is more common in asthma than in a matched control population; and elucidate risk factors for anaphylaxis among adults and adolescents with asthma.

Better Asthma Outcomes: Lowering Tobacco Smoke Exposure
This project tests the hypothesis that an ETS intervention will be associated with decreased asthma crisis care utilization, lower ETS exposure and improvements in secondary disease outcomes at follow-up when compared with usual medical care.
