Alan S. Go, MD, is Director of the Comprehensive Clinical Research Unit (CCRU), Regional Medical Director for Clinical Trials, Assistant Director for Clinical Research and a Senior Physician at the Division of Research (DOR), Kaiser Permanente Northern California. He is also an Associate Professor in the Departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.
On a national level, Dr. Go is the Director of the NHLBI sponsored Cardiovascular Research Network (CVRN) and Co-Directs the joint Kaiser Permanente-Stanford American Heart Association Outcomes Research Center. He is the past Chair of the National Institutes of Health’s Health Service Organization and Delivery (HSOD) study section, which focuses on clinical epidemiology and health services/outcomes research. He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians (ACCP) Consensus Conference on Antithrombotic Therapy Workgroup on Antithrombotic Therapy for Atrial Fibrillation, and the American Heart Association Statistics Committee on Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke. Dr. Go’s research interests include: cardiovascular health services research and clinical epidemiology; management and outcomes of atrial fibrillation; prevention and treatment of vascular and other complications associated with chronic kidney disease; genetic predictors of cardiovascular disease; and optimizing treatment and outcomes of cardiovascular and renal disease.

Phenius Lathon, obtained bachelors degrees in both biology and chemistry at the University of Louisville followed by a distinguished tenure at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he served as the General Clinical Research Center Laboratory Manager and Informatics Core Manager. He subsequently came out to California where he joined the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) in 2001. At DOR, he has worked with Dr. Alan S. Go, Director, Comprehensive Clinical Research Unit, and the DOR-IT department to spearhead evaluation and implementation of various participant and data tracking and data entry/management systems to improve the efficiency of research studies. In addition, Phenius has managed multiple large prospective cohort studies across a spectrum of medical conditions.
Since 2005, Phenius has been working with the leadership team to expand DOR’s role in organizing and participating in industry and federally-sponsored randomized clinical trials. Along with being part of the Society for Clinical Trials and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, he is also a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) with important practical expertise that he applies to improving clinical trial operations within KP.
Mary Anne Armstrong, MA

Mary Anne Armstrong, MA, is a Biostatistician and Investigator at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) in Oakland, California. She has an MA is Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Armstrong has been with DOR since 1980, where she has worked in a wide variety of research areas, including alcohol and health, perinatal substance abuse, women's health, and neonatology, and has authored or co-authored more than 75 peer-reviewed scientific publications. As Director of the DOR Biostatistical Consulting Unit, Ms. Armstrong provides statistical consultation to clinicians throughout Kaiser Permanente Northern California (KPNC). She is the Vice-Chair of the KPNC Central Research Committee and is Chair of the DOR Local Research Committee.

Maureen Fitzpatrick has been a Research Administrator at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) since 2004. She is currently the DOR Collaborations Coordinator, consulting with internal and external investigators on issues around developing collaborative projects. Prior to that, she managed the Department of Medicine Clinical Trials Center at the University of California, San Francisco for six years. Maureen earned her Master's Degree in Public Health from UC Berkeley.

Nanette has many years of clinical research experience, starting as clinical research coordinator at Stanford University, and, prior to joining the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) in 2008, as principal research project manager in the medical industry. Nanette has strong working knowledge of federal regulation and overall pharmaceutical and device industry standards and operations. Prior to joining clinical research, Nanette worked as an RN in various capacities, including as Nurse Manager and Director of Nursing Education. Nanette possesses a broad clinical background in multiple therapeutic areas including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, neurological trauma, post-cardiac surgery, and general critical care management. Nanette completed her Masters of Science in Nursing degree at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a fellow of the American Heart Association and has been involved in various national level AHA committee functions.

Deanne Wiley has been with Administration at the Kaiser Permanente Division of Research (DOR) since 1998. She has been an active Research Administrator since 2003 supporting Northern California clinicians conducting federally sponsored research projects. Deanne earned her Bachelor of Arts in Human Development from California State University, Hayward in 2000 and her certificate as a Certified Research Administrator (CRA) in 2008. Deanne is a member of the Society of Research Administrators (SRA), National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), and the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).
