Etiology and Prevention

Etiology and Prevention research is performed by a number of investigators at DOR with interests in a broad range of diseases (e.g., cardiovascular diseases, cancer, neurological diseases, psychiatric illness, diabetes, and obesity) and exposures (e.g., tobacco smoke, alcohol, diet, prescription drugs). Investigators utilize the large patient population and extensive databases maintained by Kaiser Permanente to perform studies of a magnitude that is difficult to achieve in most other research settings. Etiology and Prevention Research is led by DOR Associate Director for Etiology and Prevention, Lawrence Kushi, PhD.
